Light up your Ride with XLMOTO Motorcycle Bulbs
Think of motorcycle bulbs and the focus is usually on headlights and taillights. Yet, there are lots of motorcycle lights that you may only be aware of once they stop working. Each clock on your consul is illuminated, whether it's the speedo, rev counter or petrol gauge. Warning lights such as the neutral light, indicators, oil pressure warning and high beam are also backlit. Whether your motorcycle uses LEDs, incandescent bulbs or halogens, the one thing they have in common is that sooner or later, they're going to fail. However, XLMOTO offers an impressive range of motorcycle bulbs that will make light work of replacing bulbs. The selection of lights is wide and varied. So how do you tell the difference between motorcycle auxiliary lights and LEDs, for instance?
Incandescent bulb
These motorcycle bulbs have a transparent glass dome with a wire filament inside. Electrical current from the battery heats the filament and the resulting glow gives off light. An incandescent bulb produces up to 14 lumens per watt.
Halogen bulbs
Halogen bulbs are also incandescent but have a tungsten filament. In addition, the sealed glass casing is filled with a combination of inert and halogen gas. This feature allows for a significant increase in brightness. It will last over twice as long as a standard bulb and produces up to 24 lumens per watt.
LED
Here illumination is created by light-emitting diodes. This type of bulb is ideal for motorcycles. LED bulbs burn brighter using less energy than standard incandescent and Halogen bulbs. LEDs are also more shock and vibration-resistant and produce up to 100 lumens per watt.
Single filament bulb
These bulbs have a single wire filament. They are commonly used for indicators, warning lights and anywhere needing a single light source.
Dual filament bulb
Here you will find two filaments inside the bulb, which enables two separate light sources. This feature makes them ideal for headlights with main and dip beams or tail lights with a separate marker light and stop light.
LED flasher relay
Many riders replace standard indicators for LED units. This decision is wise as a flashing LED light is more noticeable to other road users. However, the indicators will blink too fast when fitted to the stock electrical system. An LED flasher relay adjusts the number of times the indicator flashes to the correct level.
12V
This figure relates to how many volts your motorcycle's electrical circuit runs on. Modern motorcycles use a 12v system, while some vintage motorcycles run a 6v system.
Auxiliary lights
Motorcycle auxiliary lights are a sensible option for anyone living in a rural area or who enjoys road trips. These aftermarket units provide more illumination. In this section, you'll find auxiliary lighting wiring harnesses, switches, replacement bulbs and brackets.
Do you need help determining which bulb is correct your motorcycle? Then check out the owner's handbook or relevant aftermarket workshop manual for your make and model. XLMOTO makes light work of choosing a replacement motorcycle bulb.
